Reihe: Otto Spies Memorial Series

edd. Stephan Conermann & Gül Şen

The Ottoman Studies Publication Series aims to provide a forum for shorter contributions by established scholars of Ottoman Studies. Its scope allows all aspects of Ottoman history, literature, language, and art history. The contributions are to discuss new findings in research and provide innovative interpretations of primary sources. To this end, the OSML was established by the editors in 2015 under the title Otto Spies Memorial Lecture / Otto Spies Memorial Series (OSMS), honoring the memory of Professor Otto Spies (1901–1981), the director of the former Orientalisches Seminar at the University of Bonn.  In view of recent archival findings, most notably a letter from 1933, in which Otto Spies unequivocally welcomes the recently elected government, the editors have chosen to provisionally suspend the previous title in December 2025, while probing the matter and to rename the publication Ottoman Studies Publication Series (OSPS).
